About the Author Barbara Disborough is the consummate chocoholic. But the difference between Barbara and most people who would rather eat chocolate than win the lottery (unless it paid out in 68% dark, fair trade, single source) is that she knows what she's eating and takes almost as much delight in teaching others about chocolate as she does consuming it. An articulate connoisseur and skilled writer, Barbara is also an accomplished educator who continuously explores her environment, wherever it might be, for the most delectable morsels to which she can then introduce others. Her current environment is a small farm near Interlochen, Michigan, where she shares the house with two cats, heats with wood, tends her chickens, and shares her chocolate treasures with the many whom she calls her friends.
About the Artist Early in 2008 I needed a cartoon for a project at my previous job. I asked my neighbor, a graphic artist for a local printing company, if she did this kind of thing. In no time she had exactly what we needed. Then in early spring while we were talking chickens and walking her dogs I mentioned that I would need medical illustrations for a medical handbook I had in mind. I used to do medical illustrations. Really?? Cool! Then I began chatting about a childrens book that needed color illustrations. I draw and paint. Really??? Too cool! Then I put this chocolate book on a schedule and needed someone for the graphic design. No problem! she said, and added that she had done other books. To have ideas and write them down is one thing. To have things come together in a visually pleasing and interesting way is quite another. And then to have the talents and skills to bring everything together and get it ready for a printer to create a book like this is truly a coup. The Artist for this book is Sue Sudekum. She took my vague ideas and the feelings that I wanted to convey and created this lovely little book. Without her it would be dull, boring and plain! Then, when I though I might have tapped out her talents, I asked her about doing the web page. You only have to visit the book web site to see her talents extend in this area also. The web site reflects the books presentation, and is also friendly and easy to navigate. I like it a lot. There is no way I can adequately thank Sue for her work on my projects. But I can let you know who she is and share my kudos with her. She also has an interest in model horses, and is widely known for her art in the medium. Check out her horsy web site, and you can contact her at: ssudekum@centurytel.net
