Barbara joins the group with Bruce Brown, owner of the Alpine Chocolat Haus at Saturn Books in Gaylord. Bruce was dipping in white chocolate and serving strawberries and red grapes. He also brought along some Alpine Crunch and chocolate-covered BACON!

Zonta Club Festival of Trees, November 2008

Zonta's Festival of Trees 2008 created a special challenge for a chocolate lover such as Barbara. She decorated a tree in all edible ornaments, including the presents under the tree. Bearing chocolate from 15 local sources, Chocolate Fantasy had one of the highest auction bids this year.

CHOCOHOLIC ALERT!
Here's a little something we never knew we needed, until it came along! Hot off the press is The Guide to Chocolate in the Grand Traverse Region, a booklet which author Barbara Disborough calls "a book of joy, eating, and indulgence." In it are charted the chocolate destinations of the area -- all the sources for truffles, fudges, desserts and beverages that she could find. A map details the locations of these tempting chocolate pit stops. There are also recipes with chocolate, and some poems to soothe the soul. A variety of coupons are included for an array of local chocolate wares. The guide will be available for the holidays in chocolate stores and many other outlets in the area.
